When does the ECI website open to accept new Voter ID Card Applications?

As the heralds of The Assembly Elections commence, many citizens get active and start buckling up to register themselves as voters by filling Voter ID Card Applications, so that they can cast a vote in these elections and hence make their opinion count.

This is also the time when the servers of the Election Commission site start getting activated and get loaded with hundreds and thousands of such applications that would enable the concerned citizens to take part in the electoral activism and hence not feel helpless about the wrong things that are happening in their constituency.

New Voter ID Card Applications accepted by the ECI, enable registration of new voters and ensures issuance of their voter id cards. By the New Voter ID Card Applications we mean applications that are filed through the Voter ID Card Form No. 6. Acceptance of such applications has already started in Kanpur as the district election offices have been instructed to accept them in full flow since the 1st of October.

The Election Commission website is now accepting new voter id card applications in Kanpur.

At the same time the ECI website has also opened its servers to accept New Form No. 6 applications that would enable the registration of new voters and help them getting their Voter ID Cards. For now the Voter ID Card applications that are being accepted are the ones filled through the Form No. 6 and therefore these applications are for the new voters only.

What if I want make Online Corrections to my Voter ID Card Details? To make amendments to your already issued election card you have to file an application using the Voter ID Card Form No. 8. Acceptance of Form 8 is known to make the servers and the system slow. Hence the Election Commission has decided not to accept applications for corrections in voter id details simultaneously with the acceptance of New Voter ID Card applications. The same would only be done after the 31st of October. Hence if you want to make changes in the election card details, we advise you to wait till the end of this month and then go ahead and fill the Form No. 8. What are the other tasks the Election Commission is involved in, for the elections? Alongside opening the server for registration of new voters, the district election offices in Kanpur have also provided the Voters’ List which was finalized by the election commission to the local representatives of the Parties like BJP, Congress etc. and other regional parties of Kanpur. This would help the parties to be informed about the demographics and information about the voters, which in turn would help them to formulate policies and election strategies accordingly. Another important task that has been conducted by the district election offices, is the physical verification of the Polling Centers. This list has been sent to the state election office which would then forward it to the CEO(Chief Election Officer) and to the local representatives of the parties too. All these tasks have been completed and now the commission is looking forward to register as many voters as it can before the 31st of October so that the servers could be made available for the acceptance of applications for the change in EPIC details in Kanpur. If all that continues with the same speed, it would call for a really successful assembly election. The Election commission is doing its job properly, but the question is:- Are the candidates that have been nominated to contest elections are as serious about their duties as the ECI?. If not then the Voters should know that there would be an option of NOTA(None Of The Above) on their Voting Machine. Therefore the candidates who have been sleeping till now must pull their socks up to prove that their nomination is a justified one.
