CEO Karnataka – The Details:

There are 30 districts in the state. These 30 districts are:

The Lok Sabha and the Assembly Elections take place once in 5 years in Karnataka / India and people get to cast their votes at point of time. The voting process is monitored and administered by CEOKarnataka under the surveillance of Election Commission of India.

About 28 members from Karnataka occupy the Lok Sabha seats elected by the people and 12 seats in Rajya Sabha usually chosen by the Legislative Assembly.

The State has two bodies, namely: Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. The candidates of the Legislative Assembly are elected during the Assembly Elections (ones for which we cast our votes), and there are around 224 seats in the Assembly. The Legislative Council consists of 75 seats and the members are often elected by the members of the Legislative Assembly.

Karnataka Assembly Election Results – 2013:

During the last Assembly Elections in Karnataka (held in 2013), the majority was won by Indian National Congress by winning around 122 seats, thus establishing the Government in the State of Karnataka.

The National Election Commission is under the effective leadership of Harishankar Brahma, who is the Chief Election Commissioner at Secretariat, New Delhi. The Secretariat has nearly 300 officials. They in-turn monitor the work of State Election Commissions like CEO Karnataka.

Harishankar Brahma is from the IAS cadre of Andhra Pradesh 1975 batch and is a retired IAS officer. His tenure at Election Commission of India started on 25th August, 2010.

Nearly two or three Deputy Election Commissioners and Director Generals work under the supervision of the Election Commissioner who are usually vide the National Civil Service. Directors, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Under Secretaries and Deputy Directors have the opportunity to serve as assistants under the Deputy Election Commissioners and Director Generals.

A State Election Commission like CEO Karnataka facilitates the work subdivision of the Chief Electoral Officer to District Electoral Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers and the Presiding or Polling Officers.

Collectors or District Magistrates usually hold the position of District Electoral Officers while the Electoral Registration Officers (also know as ERO) and the Assistant Electoral Registration Officers are the Sub-divisional magistrates.

The Chief Electoral Officer should be careful in such a way that no political parties take control in the polling areas and mismanage the rules and regulations of the Elections. Right from the day the dates of elections are announced in a State, the Chief Electoral Officer checks the availability of various items such as rubber stamps, Ballot papers and other items related to the Elections. He declares the day of the election as a holiday so that people would flow in for voting. He takes in the meetings of political parties to receive their complaints and suggestions.

He sends security forces to areas which may be affected by violence during the day of election. He also establishes Complaint Cell and Helpline to receive the grievances of the voters.

The Chief Electoral Officer can be communicated in case the duties of District Electoral Officers, Electoral Registration officers and the Booth Level officers are not carried out properly. The District Electoral Officers, Electoral Registration officers and the Booth Level officers help in the submission of forms, answering the questions of the public, fetching them the Voter ID card and every other duty pertaining to Elections.

At the time of elections near  the polling area, some people start bribing you in monetary terms, liquor or fake promises so that you might vote for their party. Never get involved in such immoral activities. Moreover, there might be some thugs creating violence in the polling area to disturb the peaceful voting process. In all such cases, you should go and file a complaint with the complaint cell established by the Chief Electoral Officer or contact the Helpline and convey your grievances.

If the campaign of the political parties exceeds the time, usually allotted for campaigning before elections, even in such cases you can contact your State Chief Electoral Officer and give a complaint.

Online Registration:

  1. Open the official website of CEO Karnataka – http://ceokarnataka.kar.nic.in/
  2. You will be able to see three categories:
    • I want to
    • I need info on

  3. Under I want to, select Enroll online as a voter.
  4. It takes you to a new page, where you are asked to register first. (Note: If you already registered, then enter your login details).
  5. Click on the Register option to create your account.
  6. Type your First name, Last name, Email ID, Mobile number and select your sex.
  7. Select the Click here to get your secret question.
  8. Select your secret question and answer it accordingly..
  9. A mail will be sent to your Email ID regarding the login credentials.
  10. Enter the Username and Password and press Login button.
  11. It takes you to the Change password page where you are able  to set the password as per your wish.

  13. It then asks you to logout and then login with the password you have set.

  20. Select your sex. Either select your age or Date of Birth and provide the information.
  21. Select your Relationship type and type your Relation’s name and surname.
  22. Enter the details of your Place of Birth such as Town/Village, Taluka, District and the State.
  23. Then type your residence details which include House number/ Door number, Area/ Mohalla /Street 1,Area/ Mohalla /Street 2, Town/Village, Taluka, District, Post office and pincode.
  24. Select Save and continue to the next page.
  25. Enter the details of your family member whose name has already been included in the Electoral Roll.The information should consist of: Name, Part number in the Electoral Roll, Serial Number in that part, Elector’s Photo Identity Card Number.
  26. Select the type of declaration which suits you. Since you are a new user, select my name has not already been included in the Electoral roll and enter your date of current residence.
  27. Again select Save and Continue to next page.
  28. On this page, upload your photo, Age proof PDF document (should not exceed 1 MB), Address proof PDF document (should not exceed 1 MB).The size of the photo (3.5 cm x 3.5cm) should not exceed 50 KB.
  29. Once you have uploaded, click Final Save and submission of Application.
  30. Your information gets displayed along  with the application.
  31. Select the application to get the acknowledgement number.
  32. Click on Generate Acknowledgement number.
  33. Now your application is displayed with the number.
  34. That’s it. Done. You can use this number to check your Voter ID status later.

Offline Registration:

  1. Open the official website of Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka.
  2. You will be able to see three categories:

Process for Deletion of Your Name from the CEO Karnataka Electoral Roll / Voter List

Online Registration:

  1. Open the official website of CEO Karnataka
  2. You will be able to see three categories:

  3. Under I want to, select Enroll online as a voter.
  4. It takes you to a new page, where you are asked to register first. (Note: If you already registered, then enter your login details)
  5. Click on the Register option to create your account.
  6. Type your First name, Last name, Email ID, Mobile number and select your sex.
  7. Select the Click here to get your secret question.
  8. Select your secret question and answer it accordingly..
  9. A mail will be sent to your Email ID regarding the login credentials.
  10. Enter the Username and Password and press Login button.
  11. It takes you to the Change password page where you are able  to set the password as per your wish.
  12. Select the Change Password button.
  13. It then asks you to logout and then login with the password you have set.

  18. Select the appropriate radio buttons under applicant’s details.The first button is to be selected if you are deleting the entry on behalf of someone. The second button is to be selected if you delete the entry for yourself.
  19. Search the details of the applicant by giving the part number in the Electoral Roll, Serial number in that part and the Electors photo Identity Card number.
  20. Select Get Details button to check if the information provided is correct.
  21. Next, Enter the name, surname and sex of the person’s entry in the Electoral Roll. Select the Relationship type to you and enter your name and surname.
  22. Enter the details of the applicant’s address such as House number/ Door number, Area/ Mohalla /Street 1, Area/ Mohalla /Street 2, Town/Village, Taluka, District, Post office and pincode.
  23. Then, select the reason for deletion deletion and place of submission.
  24. Click I agree that the above information is true and correct and I wish to submit the form.
  25. Click on the select link option on the page that appears.
  26. Your application with the number appears once you had selected the Generate Acknowledge button.

  21. Again enter your name,surname, photo Identity Card number, Father’s name and surname.
  22. Enter the details of the applicant’s address such as House number/ Door number, Area/ Mohalla /Street 1,Area/ Mohalla /Street 2, Town/Village, Taluka, District, Post office and pincode.
  23. Next,  enter the period of continuous residence in the locality and also type the part number to which the entry has to be transposed.
  24. Enter the details of the applicant such as
  25. Upload your photo, Age proof PDF document(should not exceed 1 MB) and Place of Submission.The size of the photo (3.5 cm x 3.5cm should not exceed 50 KB.
  26. Enter the details of the applicant such as Part number in which your name is included, Serial number in that part and the Identity card Number and Place Of Submission.
  27. Click on I agree and certify that the above information is true and correct and I wish to submit  form.
  28. Click on the select link option on the page that appears.

Search your name in the CEO Karnataka Electoral Roll:

  1. Open the official website of CEO Karnataka
  2. You will be able to see three categories:
    • I want to
    • I need info on
    • Elections Statistics
  3. Under I want to, select Search my name in Voter List.
  4. It gives you three options and select the one you want:
    • Search with EPIC Number.
    • Search with Name and Other Details.
    • Search Status of Application with Cell Phone Number.
  5. On selecting the Search with EPIC Number,it asks your District and EPIC Number.Enter it and Click Search.
  6. On selecting Search with Name and Other Details, it asks your District, Name, Sex, Relation Name and Assembly Constituency. Enter those details and click Search.
  7. On selecting, Search Status of Application with Cell Phone  Number, it asks your District and Cell Phone number.Then, Click Search.

  4. A page appears where you have to select State/UT, District and Assembly Constituency.Then click Search.

To view the CEO Karnataka Electoral Rolls

  1. Open the official website of CEO Karnataka
  2. You will be able to see three categories:

  3. Under I want to, select View-Electoral Rolls.
  4. It displays four options: View Final Electoral Rolls,  View- Draft Electoral Rolls, View Bye-Election Rolls,  View Lok Sabha Elections Rolls.
  5. By clicking on each option, it tells you to select a District except the option View-Bye Elections where it tells you to select Assembly Constituency.
  6. After selecting the district, select Assembly Constituency to view the polling stations.

    RESPECTED SIR,
    I already have my name in the voters list .But I have not got my card yet.I have voted for both the central and state elections.About my card,I have lodged a complaint online.But I have not got any response.My complaint number is KT/12/94/449464.Please look into the matter.

    Sir, I have applied for new Voter ID card online by submitting Form 6 in March 2015 Application No is 768880 and I have submitted the PDF copy along with Supporting documents to ERO office. But still application status is shown as “Under process” even after 9 months . No Voter ID received or not getting status update on what went wrong.

    Please assist me in this.

      Hi Sumesh,

      If this the case you should either contact your BLO(Booth Level Officer) or visit the ERO(Electoral Registration Officers) office yourself in order to get status information about the application filled by you Online.
