In a strange case, a citizen in the Hyderabad civic polls turned up with a formally issued Voter ID Card carrying the name and picture of Bollywood Star Salman Khan.

• The employees at a polling centre within the old city of Hyderabad were greatly surprised when the citizen showed a voter identity card with Salman Khan’s name and picture to cast his vote in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections held here on Tuesday.
•  According to the voter id card issued to the voter, Salman khan’s father’s name is Saleem Khan. The sole distinction is that the age. The card shows it as sixty four years whereas the actual age of the actor is fifty.
  
  Officials at the kiosk in Gowlipura in Charminar division failed to allow the person to vote. People said the incident was another proof of the way in which election authorities issue Voter ID Cards to the voters.
• People who had come to caste their vote couldn’t find their name in the eligible candidates list. So they had to turn back.
• “Those who are genuine voters in the neighbourhood din’t get Voter Identity Cards or their names are deleted without any prior notice,” said Syed Haider, a resident in the old city.
• All these conflicts in addition with the public interest in elections showed their effect in the right way as the curves show that less than 25% of entire population have used their right to vote.

How to Make Corrections to Voter ID Card:

In case you are stuck in such a situation ever, don’t worry as you can change the details like photograph, name, address, mobile number, email, date of birth etc. very easily just by filling a form online.

1. Photograph with width and height 240×320 and size less than 100 kb. Make sure you get it done with a professional.

1. Go to the Corrections application form that is FORM 8 or FORM 8A .
2. Once you click on those E-Registration form appears on the screen.
3. Select your assembly constituency from the available list.
4. Now upload your Photograph. Click on browse and select your photograph. Then click on upload button. If your photo successfully uploaded it displays in the rectangle.
5. Enter the present address you stay at.
6. Now enter your Name, Surname, Age as on 1st, January.  Select Sex, Enter Date of Birth. Enter relationship type, Name , surname and address.
7. Now enter your old Voter ID Card details those will be your Elector’s photo identity card number, mobile number, name of the constituency and Date of issue.
8. After filling up everything if all the details you entered are correct click save. If you want to change any details click on reset button.
9. Once if you feel everything’s nice and good hit submit button. Remember fields marked “*” are mandatory.
10.  Now you will get an acknowledgement with application ID and all the details that you have just entered.
11. Take a print out of that page and store it with you for future use.
12. After verification, your Voter ID card mistakes will be corrected.
