Hello friends, in this article we will discuss of How to Change your name in your Voters ID card. But before that you need to have a registered voter id card of yours. You can register yourself in voters list either by applying online through your respective state electoral websites and filling form 6 or filling the form 6 manually and submit it to your nearest electoral office in your city.
There are some instances when we did some mistakes and then realize later. The same happens when applying for Voters ID Registration. But it can be solved easily by following this article carefully. Basically users opt to change their names on Voters ID card because of the following reasons:
- Mis-typing of name
- Change in your surname after marriage
- Changing your own name after providing affidavit.
If any of the above stated reason is applicable in your case, then you can easily edit or change your name in your Voters ID Card. The procedure described below is helpful for every Indian Citizen whether he/she reside on Delhi, Bihar, UP, or any other state. All you need is to visit your respective state electoral website, after that all the steps are same for all the citizens of different states.
Change your Name in Voters ID Card Online:
The online method to change/edit your name in your VOTERS ID Card is as follows:
- Visit your state electoral website. Just type your state name along with electoral website on google.
- Now log in to your account for which you have registered earlier, using your username and password.
- After logging in you will see different Forms in front of your screen.
- As you want to change/edit your name on your Voters ID Card, click on Form 8.
- After clicking on Form 8, you will be redirected to a different page, sample for which has shown below.
- Now select your Assembly Number
- Write your Name, your father’s name, your House no. and your Epic No.
- As you are done with the previous step, click on Search button to search your entry on Voters List.
- After clicking Search button, you will see that your name appears if your entries above are correct.
- Now click on the appeared result.
- After clicking on the appeared result, you will see the page appeared before you as shown below.
- Now fill up your details such as Name, Age, D.O.B. which you want to change.
- You can also change your photo.
- Recheck all the details you have filled and submit it.
- An email will be send to your Id, confirm it and you will get the acknowledgement and application id.
Change your Name in Voters ID Card Offline:
The offline method to change your name in your Voters ID Card is as follows:
- Visit your state electoral website. Just type your state name along with electoral website on google.
- Download Form 8.
- You may have the option to download the form in English, Hindi or in your local language.
- Take a print out of that form.
- Fill you Name, Age, Mother’s /Father’s/ Husband Name, Residential address and all.
- You must have with yourself a proof of your Date of Birth. The types of documents that will be accepted as a proof are mentioned in the print out of Form 8.
- Now fill your previous Voters ID No. and Name of Constituency.
- Paste your recent passport sized photograph.
Note — Any person who makes a statement or declaration which is false and which he either knows or believes to be false or does not believe to be true, is punishable under section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950 (43 of 1950).
In case of Union territories having no Legislative Assembly and the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
- Once you are done with form filling, visit your nearest electoral office and submit it there from where you will get the receipt.
- The whole process of change of name in Voters ID Card may take a couple of month to process. It will change only when the next voter list is published.
